Night Huntress World novella Happily Never After now available as an e-book

Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress World novella Happily Never After, featuring Isabella and Chance (a friend of everyone’s favorite ex-gigolo vampire Bones), is now available in e-book form for your instant gratification!  Previously released in May of 2008 as part of the anthology Weddings From Hell, now fans of the Night Huntress universe can download this little gem all on its own for $1.99.

Click here to download from Amazon and get your gratuitous Cat & Bones fix now.

Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long for our next helping of Night Huntress.  Another NHW novella, Devil To Pay, will be available for download starting August 23rd.  Devil to Pay originally appeared in the Four Dukes and a Devil anthology, released in June of 2009.  Then, finally, the wait for One Grave At A Time is finally over on August 30th of this year!

More info on the upcoming releases as they approach.  Until then, indulge a little in the Night Huntress world with this fun short.  =)

Jeaniene Frost’s Vlad Tepesh to get his own series of novels

Fans of Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series (Cat & Bones featured above), are no doubt excited about the prospect of a Vlad-centric series of novels.  Vlad will be getting his own spunky heroine, Leila, and Ms. Frost promises that she’ll give him “a run for his money that he’ll never be expecting.”  Tentative plans are for the first Vlad and Leila novel to release some time in 2012, but I’ll post updates as I hear about them!  From Ms. Frost’s Night Huntress blog

And finally, I spoke to my editor firming up the plot summary for Vlad’s book and discussing my wish list for the cover. My editor and I are in agreement that we’d like to see just Vlad on the cover, with him and Leila on the stepback (kind of a reverse of the Cat and Bones covers). Now, I need to brainstorm a title for the book. It won’t have “grave” in it to denote that it’s NOT a C&B book, but I don’t know if I want a recurring word in his titles or not. Do you like it when a series has a recurring word in the title, or does that make you crazy? Also, if anyone wants to share their idea for a title for Vlad’s book, please do. If my editor gives your suggestion a thumb’s up, I’ll be sure to mention you in the acknowledgments, if you’d like.

In other equally exciting news, Cat & Bones have been upgraded from 7 books to 9!  This means we get a few more years to enjoy our favorite paranormal romance couple and the rich world Ms. Frost has built around them.  Woo!  *throws confetti*  Cat & Bones #5 (This Side of the Grave) was released earlier this year, and two more are planned for 2011 release dates: One Grave at a Time (C&B #6) and a short story in a holiday-themed anthology called The Bite Before Christmas.  More from Ms. Frost’s blog…

What’s this story about, I’ll again assume you asked? :) . It’s a Cat and Bones tale called Home for the Holidays, where long buried secrets of Bones’s past resurface to take a bite out of their holiday cheer. I’ve mentioned in other places that a member of the Night Huntress crew has known some bombshell things about Bones’s history that even he wasn’t aware of. In Home for the Holidays, I finally get to reveal who that person is and share those secrets with readers, which I’ve been itching to do.

Deleted scenes from This Side of the Grave?  Yes, please!

There’s one small scene snippet featuring Vlad in a cowboy outfit that I’ll have to dig out, but give me a little time. I’ll be sure to let everyone know once it’s up.

Yay for Cat & Bones updates!!  ❤

Dead Reckoning: Interview with Charlaine Harris on Sookie Stackhouse and her 11th novel in the series

Another painfully long wait is nearly over for Sookie Stackhouse fans, as Dead Reckoning, the 11th novel in the Southern Vampire Chronicles series, launches next week.  Nearly one year to the day since the 10th novel, Dead in the Family, was released, this newest chapter in the story of Sookie and her increasingly wacky & scary life will focus on the fae remaining among us after the gates to Fairy were closed, the state of Louisiana’s new vampire management, and Sookie’s exploration of her heritage.

You can’t get your next Eric fix until May 3 (next Tuesday, for the calendar-challenged! Click on the book cover above for a sneak peek!), but maybe this interview with Charlaine will tide you over…

tvnz.co.nz: Can you tell us a little bit about your latest novel in the Sookie Stackhouse series, Dead Reckoning?

Charlaine: Yes, a little. My books aren’t long enough to share a lot! Dead Reckoning deals with Sookie learning about her heritage, the struggles of the fae left in our world, and the vampires of Louisiana coping (or not) with the new regime.

tvnz.co.nz: The books are getting noticeably darker in tone as they progress, especially after Sookie’s traumatic experiences in Dead and Gone. Were you influenced by the TV series to go a little darker or was it always planned?

I don’t see the show as darker than the books. All the bad things that happen in the books happen on “True Blood,” though perhaps the TV show has even MORE stuff. I knew that as Sookie was drawn in more and more into vampire politics, the books would get darker.

tvnz.co.nz: What do you think of True Blood and Alan Ball’s interpretation of the world you created?

I think Alan is a genius, and I’m always excited to see what he’s put up on the screen.

tvnz.co.nz: Clearly you’re on Team Eric in the books but has Stephen Moyer managed to sway you back towards Bill at all?

I dislike the idea of teams. The story I’m telling is Sookie’s, and since all the characters come from my head, it’s not like I could “favour” one of them more than the other.

tvnz.co.nz: How do you feel about working with such a long series – what do you love/hate about it?

There are certainly two sides. It’s wonderful to have such a large cast to work with, and to not have to reinvent the people every time. On the other hand, that’s a lot of back story to remember.

tvnz.co.nz: Which character has been your favourite to write for?

Pam is always fun to write, but there again, there are always fun moments with any character.

tvnz.co.nz: How do you feel about the worldwide popularity of your books? Did you ever think you would win fans as far away as New Zealand?

No, it still seems incredible to me to think of people reading my books all across the world. I could never have foreseen this.

tvnz.co.nz: What did you think when you found out a New Zealand girl, Anna Paquin, was going to be playing Sookie?

I was very excited that an actor of her stature was interested in the role.

tvnz.co.nz: What’s your current reading obsession?

I have so many. I reread Barbara Pym often, which may seem odd. I’m also a huge fan of Lee Child, Jim Butcher, Naomi Novik, Sarah Monette. . . . a very long list.

Interview compliments of TVNZ.
